Yes, I totally agree that transparency should be placed above ceremony!

My thought is…
For example, if a high-quality study showed that A 6-week program of exercise X for people with anterior knee pain has a large effect compared to no treatment (SMD 3.01; 95% CI 1.51 to 4.0) on VAS , I would tell patients something like “If you do exercise X, your knee pain level will be on average around 3/10 lower than you do nothing 6 weeks later according to the scientific research”
This is I believe one good way of giving them autonomy of the care they receive and let them decide what they are going to do.
